I've enjoyed Bellann Summer's Belt Buckle Ranch series. I had planned to read another book by her but never did. (So many books so little time. I do need to work after all to pay for my reading addiction.) Anyways last night I just grabbed this book (figuratively since it's on my kindle) and started to read it. The beginning was a little fuzzy. Kinda unclear where the book is heading the BAM! Cougar and mate meeting in the most dramatic fashion I've seen between a shifter and a human. Hello previously unknown world!!

Needless to say that first meeting did not end well. I was listening to it on my way to work and hated getting out of the car once I arrived. Todd's reactions are priceless and his need to buy a clue mate Stephan managed to handle nearly every situation effecting their mating wrong. A big cat of few words he barely used those, to the major annoyance of his human mate. No that's the wrong word. Todd was actually Stephan's Lubirea Mai mate of his heart and soul. A even deeper connection than the concept of mates.

This is another case of opposites attracting. One is a happy outgoing young man whose just purchased his first home. He surrounds himself with color. His planted colorful flowers, the new paint on his house was bright, his personality was sparkly. He's friendly and welcoming. He looks forward to each and every day. His glass is definitely half full and his eggs sunny side up. While on the far end of the spectrum his "mate" cougar shifter Stephan was a recluse who wanted to be left alone by everyone including his neighbors to the point he hides behind an enclosed porch & floppy hat, the cougar council - he fights any councilmen that dare to darken his doorstep, and anyone else. He is known as the grumpy bast**d a reputation he has certainly earned.

You can just imagine how rocky their initial confrontations were. One who loves to talk, to ask questions while his counterpart hates talking using as few words as possible. Todd is also very funny while he dour partner rather let his cougar speak for him. Two lions were introduced and as well as a new neighbor, I'm hoping one of them will be next to find his lubirea mai. Oh and for those of you who don't like male pregnancy ... you've been warned. I really enjoyed this story.

I loved the humor between Stephan and Todd. The premise is very interesting with regard to humans vs paranormal or animals
This one by Bellann Summer I did not like. Kept putting the book down. Story line lacking substance. Kept waiting for it to get better or end.
